A HOMERUN DAY!

Friday May 14, 2010 was a home run day for “The Bus Moves Us” eco-action art project . My letter to the editor was printed in the Independent and the Coastline calling on Lagunans to answer a new environmental call to turn Laguna green one bus rider at a time. Responses were informative and encouraging.

Friday May 14 p.m. The Bus Moves Us, eco-action art project was exhibited at the Transition Laguna Event at the Sawdust Festival art grounds, a most suitable venue for the unveiling of a proposed VIRTUAL public green monument to honor the environment. The idea that each rider becomes a performance artist and turns Laguna green by the act of taking a bus and emailing or blogging captured the imagination of many. We are going to keep a citywide tally for our green riders to track. Several local organizations are interested in collaborating on the project. Imagine, artist Cristo’s saffron banners lining the pathways of Central Park on a bleak winter day. Now, flash Laguna green in your mind’s eye. The kids got it immediately and loved our green bus logo. That’s always a good sign.

Wednesday May 19. “Secrets Revealed”—by bus . Twenty Intrepid Travelers will day trip. A waiting list for this trip is good news-more green rider enthusiasm. Look for the answers to these secrets on Thursday.

REPORT FROM PARADISE-CYRSTAL COVE

On April 22, 2010 the Susi Q.'s Intrepid Travelers celebrated Earth Day at Crystal Cove and she thanked us back.

Wild flowers blazed yellow and orange. The sun slipped through the rain storms for a brief visit and the dolphins danced in the sea. Truly, Paradise is only 14 minutes away -- by bus, of course -- how divine!
Riders: Elizabeth Pearson, Mayor of Laguna Beach, Bea Field, Excutive director of Susi Q., Chris Quilter, Board President, Pat Chatlin and Ed Chatlin, Kerry Stoner, Lorraine Hollingsworth, Alba Rios, Marge Adams, Josephina Najesey, Sarah Pardo, Valerie Neidig, Runa Powers, Violet James, Romona and Vic
Opachor. Intrepid Travelers also marked its first anniversary promoting green travel by OCTA.
Note: The Gulf oil rig sank today in the Gulf of Mexico.

Basic Goals

Capture your own imagination by joining “The Bus Moves Us” public eco-action art project created by Laguna Beach artists Pat and Ed Chatlin. Turn Laguna Beach green one bus rider at a time. Create a virtual green public monument to honor the environment. Become a performance artist by the act of bus riding and blogging it. Through community collaboration you, your family, or organization expand the use of public transportation by OCTA and make an eco-action art statement.

Blog your bus schedule, riders (individual, family, organization), photos of riders with bus passes, comments. Earth will thank you.
